Late Night Quick Paint

So, if you are following along, you'll remember I posted a link to a site called 30 Min Speed Paint.

I really like the idea of this site and so I decided to take a stab at the challenge.

I found what I thought to be a simple Samurai Jack background.  I didn't get the painting done, and its made me realize that I really do want to have two monitors for my computer, so I'm not dragging and dropping windows to constantly see things.

Here's the original:

And here's my attempt at a 30 min speed paint of it:

Brush Pen Studies - Tuesday Night Workshop

I got home so late on Tuesday that I didn't get a chance to post these, so posting them now.

I only hope to keep improving.  I thought many of these were bad, but the instructor said that they were good, so I am posting them.

I really like brush pens, but wish I had better control to get really fine lines to improve my line quality when using them.  Practice makes perfect thought. :D

Cool Sites I've Found

Here are some cool sites I've found.

One I plan to try and get into when I have more free time (speed painting), and the other two just seem amazing for reference, and just a better look at some very amazing layouts.

Quick Studies Workshop - 2/25/13

I love quick studies.  Here are some that I did tonight.  I tried working a bit smaller as a suggestion from ctrlpaint.com.  I liked it, but I also liked working bigger as well.

An assortment of 30 sec, 1 min, and 2 min poses

Monster Poses

Today I spent the majority of the day drawing.  I was working on my storyboard homework, and did some exploratory drawings with my monster.

Got some nice tips from my storyboard teacher Scotland (who is an amazing artist, click his name to check out his blog).

Pictures are a little blown out --- still learning how to fine tune them in photoshop after scanning...

Oscars Sketching

Here is something I sketched while watching the Academy Awards at a friend's place.  I want to revisit this in photoshop and put it in color.

Lazy Sunday Gestures

Checked out some cool videos on ctrl paint.

They went over gesture, the importance of doing it, and some anatomy study.

Here are the three videos:

Quick Pose Gesture Sketching

Why Bother With Gesture

3 Major Masses

They are all great videos, and that site is a great resource in general.

Here are some of my attempts at 60, 45, and 30 second gestures off of posemaniacs.  The very last two pictures are ones that I tried to do without any sort of reference, working with poses from my imaginations.  Instagram from my phone because it is in fact lazy sunday and I did not want to edit these in photoshop, so low resolution quality.  Sorry :P

New Sketches & Walt Disney Family Museum

So I lied about sketch night.  I did stay for a little bit, so I'm posting a market sketch I did of one of the "James Bond" models.

Then today I did some pen sketches of the Presidio buildings while waiting for my friends to go see the Walt Disney Family Museum.  Oh yes...it was amazing.  The Snow White & Seven Dwarfs exhibit blew my mind!

Also, gonna post some amazing pictures that I was able to take at the museum.  Super fun, and highly recommend anyone in the area to get out there while the Snow White Exhibit is still there.  Plus, the Presidio is just a really nice area to visit.

The pictures don't do it justice.
